Understanding the cost
The total cost of keyhole heart surgery typically starts from around £40,000. Transparency in pricing is one of our core values. Here is a breakdown of the four key areas that we must consider for each patient:
1. Pricing
A clinical assessment at The Keyhole Heart Clinic starts from £325 for an online consultation, or £450 face-to-face. This is the first step for every patient, and it’s what determines your specific surgical cost if surgery is recommended.
A full second opinion – including two consultations and a multidisciplinary team (MDT) review – is available from £695 (£875 if the same elements are booked separately).
The Clinical Assessment Process – from £325
This is the essential first step to determine your suitability for keyhole heart surgery and to provide you with a specific surgical cost estimate, tailored to your condition.
Your assessment starts with an initial consultation – face-to-face or online – during which we:
- Take a comprehensive medical history
- Perform a clinical examination
- Review any previous tests, reports, and imaging you already have
- Discuss your symptoms, concerns, and treatment goals
Depending on what we find, we may recommend additional diagnostic tests for a clearer picture of your heart’s condition, which may include:
- Echocardiogram
- Cardiac CT scan
- Stress tests
- Blood tests
Your findings are then presented to our multidisciplinary team, who develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. You’ll receive a comprehensive written report and an invitation to discuss it with us online — and at this stage, we’ll also be able to give you an estimate for your keyhole heart surgery, if surgery is the right path forward.
Cost: Face-to-face – £450 · Online – £325
Full Second Opinion Service – £695
If you already have a diagnosis and want an independent second opinion, our full second opinion service includes two consultations and a multidisciplinary team review for £695 – £180 less than booking these elements separately (£875 unbundled). See what’s included in a second opinion →
What happens after my assessment?
Once your assessment is complete and reviewed by our multidisciplinary team, you’ll receive a full written report and, if keyhole heart surgery is appropriate for your case, an estimate for the cost of your specific procedure.

2. Hospital Costs
Hospital costs make up a significant portion of the total expense. These costs can vary depending on factors such as:
- The specific procedure you require
- Length of your hospital stay
- Use of specialised equipment (e.g. heart valve of choice)
- Any additional medical services needed during your stay
As your surgeon, I do need to inform you that we do not control these hospital costs. They are set by the hospital and can fluctuate based on your individual needs and circumstances.
3. Our Team’s Professional Fees
While hospital costs may vary, I can assure you that our team’s professional fees remain fixed throughout your treatment in the hospital. This consistency allows you to plan more effectively for the financial aspect of your care. Our fixed fees cover:
- The surgical procedure itself
- The cost of the essential surgical assistant required to assist us with your procedure
- Your daily review in the hospital
4. Anaesthetist Fees
In addition to our team’s fees and the hospital costs, there will be a separate fee for the anaesthetist.
This specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring your safety and comfort during the procedure.
The anaesthetist’s fee is fixed and will be communicated to you as part of your overall cost estimate.
Our Commitment to Your Health
At The Keyhole Heart Clinic, your health and well-being are our top priorities. Our fixed fees reflect our dedication to providing you with the highest quality care from your initial consultation through to your recovery. We believe that this approach not only offers you peace of mind but also ensures that our focus remains solely on your well-being rather than on variable costs.
And our commitment extends beyond the operating room. We provide comprehensive post-operative care and support to ensure your recovery is as smooth and swift as possible. This includes:
- Easy access to one of our clinical team or indeed myself for clinical review if you require (a cost may be associated with this: face-to-face £450, Online £325, Full Second Opinion (Two Consultations before and after an independent multidisciplinary review £695).
- Access to our support team for any questions or concerns (FREE).
- Guidance on rehabilitation and lifestyle adjustments through our partners at CP+R (at no initial cost).
I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Inderpaul Birdi. His expertise is beyond question with quality and standard of care of the highest order.

Additional Unexpected Costs
Whilst you will never receive any extra fees from us for your hospital care, the hospital costs can vary if your hospital stay is prolonged or if complications develop which require additional care needs. The hospital will discuss these issues with you.
Financial Options
We understand that the cost of heart surgery can be challenging for many patients. The hospital can offer finance options for the hospital cost if you require it. Some of these terms are interest-free options. We can introduce you to the hospital team to discuss this if you require it.
Can The Hospital Provide a Fixed Cost?
If you prefer, you can request a fixed cost from the hospital for your care. This is often more expensive than the one variable hospital cost. Our team can introduce you to the relevant teams for this purpose.
