Founder Statement from Inderpaul Birdi

I founded The Keyhole Heart Clinic because I believed cardiac care could — and should — be better.

After years working within traditional heart surgery models, it became clear to me that patients were often facing unnecessary trauma, fragmented decision-making, and limited access to genuinely informed choice. Many were told what could be done, rather than being helped to understand what should be done, and why.

The Keyhole Heart Clinic was created to change that.

Our clinic is built on the principle that excellent heart care begins long before the operating theatre. It starts with careful listening, accurate diagnosis, multidisciplinary discussion, and transparent communication. Surgery is never the default — it is the outcome of rigorous clinical judgement and shared decision-making.

Where surgery is required, my focus has always been on minimally invasive, evidence-based techniques that reduce physical trauma, shorten recovery, and allow patients to return to meaningful lives as safely and quickly as possible – without compromising outcomes.

Equally important is how care is delivered. At The Keyhole Heart Clinic, every patient is treated with respect, honesty, and accountability. Decisions are guided by clinical evidence, national and international guidelines, and long-term wellbeing – not volume, speed, or convenience.
